Hiking in the Nockberge mountains in Carinthia
Get active between mountains and lake
There are different types of hikers. Some want to be by the water, others are desperate to conquer the surrounding peaks and a third group prefer relatively gentle hikes up in the mountains with great views. The nice thing about Lake Millstatt, is that it offers all this and more.
Hikes between 600 and 2.000 metres above sea level
The Carinthian mountains around Lake Millstatt are an ideal destination for both leisurely and sporty hikers. From a topographical perspective, the area is terraced: Lake Millstatt is the lowest point at 600 m above sea level and offers beautiful walks overlooking the water. At 800 m above sea level, an alpine plateau stretches around the lake and is a lovely place for leisurely hikes with great lake views. For more adventurous mountain lovers, there are alpine tours at 2,000 m above sea level in the Millstätter Alpe mountains.
