Snowshoe and winter hiking in Carinthia
The snow crunching underfoot, the crystal-clear winter air, and the azure sky: When the natural setting around Lake Millstätter See embarks on its winter beauty sleep under a fresh blanket of snow, there is nothing better than winter hikes and snowshoe tours in the great outdoors. The mountains are also open for business during winter – the Goldeck “sports mountain” is just 15 minutes away and perfect for snowshoe tours. At higher altitudes, splendid ski pistes and opportunities for ski touring await, as well as beautiful routes for snowshoe tours. The Nockberge range is also wonderful for easy to intermediate winter hikes, thanks to its gently rounded peaks. Snowshoes make it easy to move across the snow-covered terrain and open up vistas that you wouldn’t be able to enjoy without them. And when you feel in need of a break, drop in at one of the many mountain inns for a hot drink and a hearty Austrian meal. To explore the snow-covered mountains off the beaten track, book a tour with a certified mountain guide.
